Procedure Infiltration Scars Tissue

Position and anatomical landmarks

The anatomical side of infiltration is dependent of the localisation of the scar. The scar is palpated to find the most painful spot(s) of the scar and recognised by the patient as a sharp pain.

Procedure

The area around is disinfected covered with sterile drapes.  A needle (22G) is inserted (under ultrasound guidance) in the most painful spot(s). Bupivacaine 0.25% with 20 mg of methylprednisolone is injected (in 1cc).

 

Complications

1. Infection
2. Local haematoma
