Vascular Pain

What is vascular pain?

Vascular pain is caused by vascular arterial insufficiency or arterial occlusion. In vascular pain, both nociceptive pain due to tissue damage, and neuropathic pain due to nerve damage and/or dysfunction as a result of hypoxia, can be present.

The diagnosis of vascular pain is made on the basis of the symptoms of vascular insufficiency accompanied by the associated pain symptomatology.

Drugs treatment focuses on both the nociceptive and neuropathic mechanisms underlying the pain.
