Pain Treatment

Pain treatment can be divided into two groups: 1. Physical pain treatment and 2. Non-physical pain treatment.

Together, we call these two pain treatments the multidisciplinary treatment of your pain.

1. Physical Pain Treatments

These include various types of intervention such as medication, injections, nerve blocks or nerve stimulators, as well as manual medicine/therapy and physiotherapy.

2. Non-physical Pain Treatments

These are treatments that focus on the impact the pain has on you and/or on factors that may lead to your pain becoming worse, such as depression. They include: pain behavioral treatment, psychological treatment, depression treatment and rehabilitation treatment.

Depending on the diagnosis and abnormalities found, the pain specialist decides upon which treatment, or a combination of somatic pain treatment and non-treatment, is recommended.
