Other Physical Treatments

What other physical treatment is there?

Sometimes physiotherapy is necessary to treat pain occurring before or after an interventional pain treatment. The pain specialist's decision on what treatment is needed depends on the cause of this pain:

• Manual Physiotherapy: Treatment is carried out by a specially trained physiotherapist who treats patients by means of exercises as well as mobilisation and manipulation of the extremities and spine.

• Exercise: Treatment is carried out by a specially trained physiotherapist who instructs and guides each patient, using an individually designed exercise programme.

• Podiatry: Treatment is carried out by a therapist specialising in foot problems, and the treatment of, and examination into the reasons for, these problems. For example, this can be done using a computer-controlled printing plate that measures the load pattern of the feet during standing and walking. Based on these findings, the therapist can decide on whether or not corrective shoe soles are required.
